Senses for better buildings STEINEL sensors have features that make them unique. The technology and quality are outstanding and always designed to switch light reliably and offer more. We revolutionised the world of light decades ago with our motion detectors. Today, we automate modern and sustainable buildings with highly specialised sensors. Intelligent sensory organs that control lighting, ventilation, heating and air conditioning efficiently and in line with people's needs. Everything to turn rooms into real living and feel-good spaces.

Technology leader in 6 sensor technologies

High frequency

Can even see through thin walls. HF sensors emit high-frequency waves and receive the reflected signals from objects. By analysing these reflected waves, they can determine the distance and movement of objects. With this capability, precise and fast measurements can be made and even penetrate materials.

Infrared

Reacts to moving heat sources. Passive infrared sensors recognise the infrared radiation emitted by warm objects, such as the human body. These sensors do not have their own radiation source, but react to changes in the infrared radiation in their surroundings.

Ultrasound

Fills the entire room and also detects around objects. Ultrasonic sensors work by emitting ultrasonic waves and receiving the waves reflected by objects. The time it takes for the waves to travel from the sensor to the object and back is measured and used to calculate the distance or recognise objects.

Optical sensors

Only registers people and can also count them. Detects people in 5 individually adjustable zones! Worldwide unique optical sensor, recognises and counts seated and standing people in up to five precisely definable detection zones. The integrated, ultra-modern image recognition system compares 150,000 positive images and 7 million negative images in real time.

True Presence®

The world's first true presence detector. True Presence® technology is based on the finest high-frequency measurements of the surroundings. The presence of people is recognised on the basis of three-dimensional breathing patterns. The combination of the extremely sensitive antenna and unique sensor software detects the presence of people 100%.

Infrared matrix technology

The basic answers to building and space utilisation. The infrared matrix technology is based on a grid principle in which the detection area is divided into individual fields. Each of these zones is analysed in detail so that movements, the number of people and other detection variables can be precisely recorded in each field - without the need for a camera.

STEINEL sensors show how to use energy intelligently. The technologically innovative and pioneering products stand for maximum energy efficiency - both in private and commercial environments.

Product groups

Presence detector

Presence detectors are used wherever precise detection of presence is required, e.g. offices, conference rooms, schools and public buildings. They control lighting, air conditioning and other systems to save energy and increase comfort. Integrated into building management systems, they are an integral component and contribute to automation and efficiency.

Bluetooth MESH. Endless possibilities with a new standard.

As part of the Bluetooth SIG (Special Interest Group) member community, we are continuously expanding the possibilities of Bluetooth technology in order to solve new challenges and utilise market opportunities. This makes the commissioning and configuration of intelligent systems much easier and ensures the future viability of our products.

Schnittstellen_03_IP_675x379px.jpg

IP. The internet protocol for IoT applications in the smart building sector.

Our IP sensors offer seamless integration into existing building infrastructures. They are easy to install and can be controlled directly. By connecting to server/cloud systems without gateways, they guarantee the highest IT security standards. In addition, they enable the evaluation of up to 9 sensor measurement variables, which emphasises their versatility and performance.

Schnittstellen_04_KNX_675x379px_1.jpg

KNX. Control with a globally proven system.

Our KNX sensors can collect important information, process this data and communicate with other devices via the bus system to trigger various automated actions. This enables flexible and efficient control of various aspects of a building, such as lighting, heating, ventilation and security.

Schnittstellen_05_DALI-2_675x379px_1.jpg

DALI-2. Independent lighting management for existing and new buildings.

DALI-2 offers an advanced solution for controlling lighting systems in buildings. The DALI-2 standard supports multiple functions such as dimming, switching and colour control, enabling precise adjustment of lighting. The integration of DALI-2 into building automation systems enables efficient and flexible lighting control and optimised energy efficiency.
