SENSOTEC IPD Generation - FAQ

Are the SENSOTEC sensors also available as input devices?

Our NET sensors behave like DALI application controllers. There must always be only one application controller on the DALI bus that controls the light. However, due to the great demand, we now also offer Input Devices. These sensors have been on the market for a short time and have been developed as pure presence detectors / light sensors on the DALI bus. These sensors are not networkable via Bluetooth.

How can I combine my DALI LED driver with a DALI sensor?

The DALI sensor in the case of SENSOTEC IPD is a sensor without integrated control. This means that the sensor only provides sensor data and does not make any decisions required for lighting control. This task is performed by a DALI Application Controller, a third component which must also be present in the DALI network. A wide variety of devices are available on the market from various manufacturers for this purpose. Compatibility is ensured by DALI-2 certification.

What happens if I run multiple input devices side by side?

The processing of the sensor data is the responsibility of the controller; the application controller. Each input device can be given a short address, the incoming sensor data can then be assigned to the source. The presence/motion information can be OR-linked, for example, and average values can be formed for the ambient light values of the various sources. It is also conceivable to define a "master" whose measured values are decisive for constant light control, depending on the area of application and the possibilities of the control system used.

How do I mount the SENSOTEC Sensor PIR IPD?

Either the sensor is locked onto a metal sheet with specially designed holes, or it is fixed with plastic brackets. Contact us if you need special brackets.

Are SENSOTEC NET and SENSOTEC IPD sensors mechanically identical?

Yes; 3D data is available online. On the electrical side, the power supply is also provided in the same way via the DALI bus in both cases. For SENSOTEC IPD, the current provided on the DALI bus could be significantly reduced.

Can the range / sensitivity be adjusted?

Yes, this is possible. For compatibility reasons, these adjustments are made by accessing Memory Bank 2. Details can be found in the data sheet.

A red LED lights up / flashes on the sensor. What does this mean?

The cause can be several things: Status indication / command confirmation / software version / device recognition. The blink codes are documented in the data sheet.
