Capstone® – the gateway to ecologically and economically optimised buildings

Technological advances and the increasing availability of sensors and IoT devices are opening up new possibilities for making buildings smarter and more efficient. By collecting and analysing environmental data such as temperature, humidity, CO2 levels, VOCs, smoke, noise and presence detection, buildings can not only become more energy efficient, but also more comfortable and secure. The new Capstone® software solution makes it possible for the first time to detect and visualise all IP and Bluetooth sensors and luminaires in the network, providing a complete overview of the building's status. Based on this data, optimisation proposals can be created for better space utilisation.

This is how Capstone® works.

IP sensors and Bluetooth mesh as a basis

With the introduction of the IP interface for our sensors and the possibilities of wireless Bluetooth mesh technology, we have created the basis for building on existing building infrastructures as well as quickly and cost-effectively creating new ones. All data collected is transferred to the Capstone server for further processing.

individual visualisation

The Capstone software provides a range of visualisation options. This means you can decide whether the data obtained at room, floor or building level is best presented for your decisions. It is also important to be able to show or hide certain data for a quick overview that meets your requirements.

Capstone® opportunities

Optimisation of space utilisation

With the help of the Capstone software, the average occupancy rate of all rooms can be accurately displayed. Targeted room optimisation offers the opportunity to use office space more efficiently and save costs at the same time. Resources that become available can be repurposed, creating completely new possibilities.

More efficient energy use.

Often, many people are present in many rooms at the same time, which leads to an excessively high room temperature. This not only affects our well-being but also leads to inefficient energy use. By making suggestions to the HVAC systems, we can improve comfort and significantly reduce energy costs and the ecological footprint.

Improved lighting control

With the help of the Capstone software, both room occupancy and light switching can be displayed in real time. Analyses show that the lights in many rooms are often left on unnecessarily outside working hours. Adjustments to sensor settings and minimising overrun times can reduce energy consumption and save costs.

Fine-tuning the ventilation

In some rooms, the air quality is particularly poor, which can lead to fatigue and reduced concentration. By controlling the ventilation systems, not only is the well-being of employees improved, but their productivity is increased as well. Good air quality is essential for a healthy and productive working atmosphere.

Preventing mould growth

High humidity can cause damage to the building fabric and health problems for residents. With the help of the Capstone software, problematic areas can be identified at an early stage and targeted measures such as regular ventilation and adjusted heating can be taken to ensure optimal indoor air quality and effectively prevent mould growth.

noise level analysis

Reducing noise pollution is crucial for a good working and learning environment. With the help of the Capstone software, noisy areas can be identified and targeted measures such as sound insulation and room re-division can be taken to lower noise levels and significantly improve the acoustic quality in rooms.

Dashboard.

The Steinel Capstone Dashboard provides real-time monitoring and control of building systems from a central location. Users can analyse data, quickly identify faults and take action to ensure efficient and sustainable operations. Customisable widgets and clear visualisations make it easy to operate and optimise. An integrated alarm system provides information in the event of faults, enabling immediate action to be taken and thus helping to ensure more efficient and sustainable building management.

floor plans

The floor plans displayed in the software provide a clear visualisation of the buildings. Users can see rooms and levels in detail and can locate sensors and devices directly on the floor plan. This visual mapping makes it easier to manage systems, as all relevant data is visible in its spatial context. This means that problems can be pinpointed and adjustments made with precision, enabling more efficient management of the building infrastructure.

Device overview.

The device overview in the Steinel Capstone software provides a centralised list of all connected devices and sensors. Users can monitor the status of each device in real time, including operating data, conditions and any error messages. This overview simplifies management by making it easy to locate and control each device as needed. It also enables easy maintenance by allowing problems to be identified and resolved immediately.

Room overview.

The room overview provided by Steinel Capstone software offers a clear display of all important parameters of a room, such as lighting, temperature and ventilation. Users can see the status of the systems at a glance and make adjustments as needed. This makes it possible to improve settings to optimise energy consumption and increase comfort. This centralised control per room efficiently reduces operating costs and improves user comfort.

grp-capstone-kleiner-teaser-alarmfunktion.jpg
alarm function

The alarm function ensures immediate notification in the event of problems or critical conditions in the building systems. Users are informed in real time about faults, such as equipment failures or deviations from specified limit values. These alarms enable rapid intervention before major damage or downtime occurs. The function helps to proactively monitor the systems and increase operational reliability by enabling problems to be identified and rectified at an early stage.

grp-capstone-kleiner-teaser-reports.jpg
Reports

The report function enables comprehensive evaluation of building data. Users can create and analyse reports on various systems, such as energy consumption, equipment utilisation or climate data. These reports provide detailed insights into building performance and efficiency and help identify optimisation potential. Regular reports enable analysis over longer periods of time, facilitate maintenance planning and support informed decisions for continuous operational optimisation.
