Building intelligence for health and care

It's about people, not technology. Solutions for inpatient care.

The idea behind

More time for humanity. Relieve the burden on nursing staff in the inpatient sector and provide targeted support for those in need of care.

Life expectancy in our society is increasing, while the birth rate has been declining for years. In the future, there will thus be more and more older people and fewer and fewer younger people to take care of them. This demographic change also has an impact on the care sector. The demand for nursing staff will continue to increase significantly, both in the inpatient and outpatient sectors. Possible consequences may be bottlenecks and a lack of quality in care. Whether at home or in care facilities – intelligent technical solutions support and relieve the nursing staff in their daily work.

The project

  • The number of inpatient care facilities has increased by almost 60% to 14,480 over the last 20 years.
  • The nursing rate increases from around 11% in the over-75 age group to around 71% in the over-90 age group.
  • According to the Federal Statistical Office, there will be around 4.53 million people in need of care in 2060.

Reinforcement for the nursing team. Digital support for inpatient care.

In times of staff shortages and a shortage of skilled workers, any help in the care sector is welcome. This is because it can sometimes happen that only one professional is responsible for 60 people in need of care at night in care facilities. How can all residents be well looked after and cared for? Calm Care from STEINEL is the answer here. The intelligent sensor system, which is installed on the wall or ceiling in residents' rooms, can help care staff and support them in their work. With their sensitive senses, the sensors detect whether everything is normal in each room. If critical values are detected or deviations in a resident's behaviour are noticed, the responsible nurse is immediately informed via an app. This means that targeted help can be provided where it is most urgently needed.

Care requires proximity. And fine sensor technology.

Sensors as a watchful eye

Intelligent technology can support specialist staff on the ward in their daily care routine and help them to give their patients the best possible attention. The combination of state-of-the-art sensor technology determines new parameters that are relevant for care. Sensors register the presence and activity of a person in need of care, provide information about their state of hygiene, ensure a comfortable environment and detect deviations from the normal state. This enables nursing staff to react quickly if necessary.

Keep an eye on the station with the dashboard

A software solution collates the sensor data and displays it clearly in a dashboard. This gives the nursing staff on duty an overview of all rooms on the respective ward. At the same time, the data from each individual patient room can also be accessed. This means that the nursing staff are always informed about the resident and can take targeted action if necessary.

60

On average, there is one professional carer for up to 60 people in need of care at night.

200%

The number of people in need of care in Germany will almost double between 2009 and 2050.

3.4millions

In Germany, there are approximately 3.4 million people in need of care. Almost 25% are fully inpatient.

Living independently in your own four walls

Intelligent technology enables older people to remain in their familiar surroundings for longer and helps specialist staff in their day-to-day care. The combination of state-of-the-art sensor technology helps to determine new, relevant metrics.

Every facility is different. We are prepared for that.

WC/Washrooms

With their penetrating detection, STEINEL high-frequency sensors are ideal for detecting movement behind shower or cubicle walls in WCs and washrooms. The light stays on when it's needed.

Rooms such as a nurse's station are only used occasionally and so do not need to be permanently illuminated. Sensor-switched light from STEINEL is only switched on when it is needed. This saves precious energy.
