What began with an international call for tenders has since developed into an intensive, almost friendly partnership between equals. Together with STEINEL, MV Werften GmbH will be equipping several cruise ships with intelligent sensor technology over the next few years. The focus here is on the efficiency of the energy resources, of which there is a very limited supply on board. The Park Inn by Radisson hotel, which belongs to MV Werften GmbH, was the first step in this direction.

The hotel’s energy management system uses information from the
True Presence® to detect when a guest has left their room. Without the guest even noticing, the room temperature is adjusted by 2°C in the unoccupied room. This enables energy savings of up to 12% to be achieved.
The True Presence registers when there is no longer anyone in the room.
After about 20 minutes, the room temperature is changed by 2°C.
In the Park Inn Wismar project, a figure of up to 12 per cent was achieved under these conditions.
In future, the Park Inn by Radisson Wismar hotel also plans to use the information on whether a hotel guest is in their room or not to optimise operational processes. With the help of the Building Intelligence solution from STEINEL, room service will be able to clean specific available rooms without disturbing the guest. At the same time, the reception receives feedback on which rooms have already been cleaned and can be assigned to new guests. This helps to improve the utilisation of the hotel's capacity by enabling better planning and deployment of service staff.
