Energy efficiency vision

Al Maktoum International Airport, Dubai

In future, Al Maktoum Airport will be the world's largest airport. The first passenger terminal went into service back in October 2013.

Cutting-edge KNX presence detectors from STEINEL provide automatic and efficient lighting at the airport. Using the standardised KNX BUS system, building automation was to control the main functions on a centralised basis and in the most energy-efficient manner possible.

Using intelligent presence detectors to automate lighting can provide energy savings of up to 80 per cent. This saves a lot of time and money, a benefit that's very much appreciated in Dubai. The precision KNX detectors have the job of controlling the lighting system connected to them in the passenger terminal.

In corridors and passageways this is done by the dedicated Dual HF KNX corridor sensor. The IR Quattro HD KNX was chosen for controlling the lighting in offices and the kitchen area.
