Requirements for installing STEINEL CAMs

To ensure that you can use your new camera light optimally, please note the following installation instructions. If these requirements are not met, the device cannot be used. If you have any questions or problems, please contact us by email at service@steinel.de or by phone at +49 (0) 5245 / 448 188.

1. Network frequency:
The camera lights can only be installed in a 2.4 GHz network. Temporarily deactivate the 5 GHz frequency band in your router during the installation process. Once installation is complete, the 5 GHz network can be reactivated.

2. WiFi repeaters:
WLAN repeaters should be disconnected from the network during the installation process. You can reactivate the repeaters later.

3. WiFi settings:
Disable WiFi6 or ensure that backward compatibility for WiFi4 is enabled in the router settings.

4. Encryption:
Ensure that your WiFi network is encrypted according to the WPA2 standard. The camera lights do not support WPA3 or higher.

5. Bandwidth/internet speed:
Ensure sufficient bandwidth at the installation location of the camera light. The installation location should have a bandwidth of at least 2 Mbit/s. To do this, please carry out a Wi-Fi speed test in the STEINEL CAM app and make sure that it is more than 2 Mbit/s.

6. App permissions:
Ensure that the STEINEL CAM app has all the necessary permissions on your smartphone, in particular location sharing. Location sharing is required for the camera light to detect the Wi-Fi network. We do not record the locations of our customers.

The camera shots are too short or start too late. How can I change this?

Possible solutions are:

Update CAM firmware:

Ensure that your camera has the latest firmware to resolve any issues and improve performance.

Set sensor range to close:

If the sensor range is too large, this can cause the camera to be triggered unnecessarily. Setting it to a close range can resolve the issue.

Set the sensor range to medium:

If the close range is not sufficient, setting the range to medium will activate the camera when motion is detected nearby.

Set the sensor range to far:

If you need to monitor a larger area, it may be necessary to set the range to far. However, this also increases the risk of the camera being triggered unnecessarily.

The glass cover on my light is broken. Can I replace it?
