Sensors with IP interface – unlimited possibilities in building analysis and control

STEINEL sensors with IP interface bring real intelligence directly into the network – without any detours. Thanks to Power over Ethernet (PoE), they are ready for immediate use and do not require a separate power supply, which greatly simplifies planning and installation. These sensors not only provide data – they provide knowledge about the building. With maximum detection quality, they detect every movement, every light level, every relevant change in the room – precisely, reliably and in real time.

This opens up completely new possibilities for automation, efficient energy management and maximum transparency. Whether for lighting, climate or security control, our IP sensors are the perfect sensory organs for any modern system architecture. We deliver the best data – for the best solution.

What opportunities does this present?

Heating, ventilation and air conditioning control

Precise measurement of temperature, humidity, CO₂ and other parameters ensures that the indoor climate is regulated automatically and in real time to meet specific requirements. The result: noticeably greater comfort for users and more efficient use of HVAC systems – for a healthy indoor climate and sustainable building management.

lighting control

Our IP sensors also set standards in lighting control. They detect presence and brightness with maximum precision. Whether in individual rooms, open-plan offices or large areas, intelligent lighting control via the IP network responds flexibly, quickly and reliably. The result is a smart solution for efficiency, well-being and sustainability.

people counting

Our IP sensors take people counting to a new level – accurate, compliant with data protection regulations and fully integrated into the IP network. They record in real time how many people are in a room or area. The data enables targeted cleaning operations, optimised security concepts and transparent visitor and room management. Whether in offices, public buildings or educational institutions.

Flexible desk and meeting room management

IP sensor technology records and digitally manages workstations and meeting rooms in real time. Employees can immediately see which desks or rooms are available via an app and can book them flexibly. This improves space utilisation, prevents vacancies and creates more transparency and comfort in everyday office life. Modern working environments thus benefit from efficient planning and maximum flexibility.

The advantages of IP interfaces

  • High security through encryption. IP interfaces enable secure data exchange via encrypted connections and provide reliable protection against unauthorised access.
  • Direct connection to existing IP infrastructures. Components can be easily integrated into existing networks – without additional gateways or proprietary systems.
  • Easy integration into system landscapes. Thanks to standardised protocols and interfaces( ), IP-based devices can communicate seamlessly with other IT or automation systems.
  • Future-proof and powerful. IP technology is scalable, fast and supports modern requirements for smart buildings – ideal for current and future applications.
  • Intuitive operation via web interfaces. Devices with an IP interface can be conveniently configured and managed via browser-based interfaces – even remotely.

Smart space sensors

Smart Space Sensors are ushering in a new era of building intelligence. For the first time, we are combining comprehensive environmental monitoring – from temperature, humidity, CO₂, VOC and air pressure to brightness and noise levels – with precise people counting in defined areas or rooms. This concentrated sensor power enables unprecedented data depth and opens up completely new perspectives for analysis, control and optimisation.

Presence detector with IP

The input devices (IPD) in DALI-2 can be used to implement a wide range of control and automation tasks. STEINEL's precise sensors detect additional input signals such as temperature and humidity and transmit them to building control systems such as KNX. Building management systems such as Beckhoff or WAGO also use this data to regulate heating, air conditioning and ventilation according to requirements. This extends the functionality of DALI-2 far beyond classic lighting control.

The connection to other worlds

We not only supply first-class sensor technology, but also bridge the gap between existing automation systems and today's IP world. With our extensions and complementary products, Bluetooth lights or DALI lighting control, for example, can be easily integrated into the IP network. This transforms classic building automation into a networked, future-proof overall system.

Bluetooth/IP gateway

We not only offer sophisticated sensor technology, but also create the crucial link between classic building automation and today's networked IP world. With the Bluetooth/IP gateway, STEINEL lights, sensors and system components with Bluetooth Mesh can be seamlessly integrated into modern IP infrastructures.

LiveLink LAN DR

An existing or planned DALI-based lighting control system can be integrated into the IP world via the LiveLink LAN DR. Similarly, information from connected DALI sensors can be transferred to the IP network and processed. This creates a comprehensive system for building analysis and optimisation.
