Sketch of a sensor detection with infrared rays, which go out from a sensor and detect a person with a dog
Proven intelligent PIR sensor technology for maximum efficiency and comfort in buildings.

STEINEL has been developing passive infrared sensors (PIR) for over 30 years and is one of the pioneers of this technology. PIR sensors detect the infrared radiation emitted by warm objects such as people and use this to efficiently control lighting, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, as well as building management systems. A special feature is the precise detection of the presence of people in the room, even with minimal movement. Rooms are automatically lit or heated as soon as people are detected. Compared to other technologies, such as ultrasound or high frequency, PIR sensors specialise in heat radiation and are therefore ideal for areas where precise presence detection is crucial – such as in offices, conference rooms or public buildings. This technology improves the efficiency of modern buildings, reduces energy consumption and contributes significantly to user comfort.
