Building intelligence for offices and workplaces

Ready, set, go: the FlexDesk solution at Campana & Schott, Frankfurt/Main

The idea behind

To give people the opportunity to choose when and where they set up their workplace.

Particularly in metropolitan areas, office space is scarce and expensive. At the same time, digital workplaces and the desire for a home office play an important role in the calculation of space.

Campana & Schott therefore organises its employees' workplaces with a Smart Workspace FlexDesk solution. Based on data supplied by the HPD2 optical sensor, employees use an app to search for a free workplace. By analysing the usage data, the office space can be optimised and utilised to its full potential, thereby reducing operating costs.

The project

  • Client: Campana & Schott
  • Location: Frankfurt, Germany
  • in use since 2019
  • 96 Flex-Desk workstations at the Frankfurt site
  • Services: software, hardware and services

The sensor data from the HPD2 helps employees to find an available workstation immediately. It detects how many people are in a particular area. In doing so, an area of up to 100 square metres can be divided into up to five zones.

The software analyses the data on actual space utilisation and uses it as a basis for deciding on necessary space optimisations.

Invest in meaningful work – not in unnecessary rental space.

In times of constantly rising commercial rents, companies are faced with the challenge of optimising the use of existing space and adapting it as needed. Intelligent technologies such as the HPD2 provide the necessary digital data and facts and give answers to when, for how long and by how many people office space and rooms are used. By analysing this data, companies and office space operators can identify uneconomical processes and poorly utilised premises and define potential savings. A decision to adjust the space available can thus be made on a data basis.

Key building figures on space utilisation

The smart workspace solution summarises data on building utilisation in a web application. The key figures can be provided for the entire building, per floor or even according to different room types and displayed in standardised dashboards. This makes it possible to identify potential savings at a glance.

Find a meeting room

If employees are present in the office, they often have to look for a room for meetings during the course of the working day. The usually time-consuming search for a free and suitable meeting room can be efficiently organised with the help of the Smart Workspace solution. This saves valuable working time.
