Building intelligence for offices and workspaces
12:30 - 3:45 p.m. Important appointment at Campana & Schott, Frankfurt/Main
The idea behind it

Sensor technology that organises meeting rooms exactly the way we want them: simple.

Like many modern employers, the technology consultancy Campana & Schott, based in Frankfurt, wants to offer its employees an attractive workplace, even though office space in metropolitan areas is scarce and expensive. At the same time, the available space is often not used optimally due to changes in the world of work. Using meeting rooms is a central part of everyday working life. With its smart workspace solution, Campana & Schott organises the web-based booking and allocation of meeting rooms. The HPD2 optical sensor from STEINEL provides the digital data on room use. An assistance system with chatbot and digital signage helps employees find available rooms and saves valuable working time.

The project

  • Client: Campana & Schott
  • Location: Frankfurt, Germany
  • In use since 2019

The HPD2 is an optical sensor that detects whether there are people in a meeting room and, if so, how many. A single HPD2 can monitor an area of up to 100 square metres.

The right room for every meeting.

Despite digitalisation and home offices, meeting rooms are still in demand in the analogue office. Before each meeting, a suitable room must be found and booked. The number of meeting rooms is usually limited. In addition, spontaneous changes to the appointment, the participants or even the cancellation of the planned meeting make booking more difficult. The Smart Workspace solution not only makes it easier to organise meetings and saves valuable working time. It also allows the utilisation of existing rooms to be analysed and potential savings to be defined.

Simply find rooms

Sensor data helps employees find available and suitable rooms in real time. The digital signage screens, the web portal or the assistant bot can be used for this. Employees save valuable working time when searching for a room.

The HPD2 notifies the system if a booked meeting room is not being used. The meeting organiser is reminded of the room booking via chat bot. If the meeting room is no longer needed, it can be released again. This avoids empty bookings.

Employees increasingly take intelligent technologies for granted in an attractive workplace. In addition to booking meeting rooms, the smart workspace solution can also be used to organise the search for a flex desk workstation.

washrooms

With the help of intelligent sensors, the light in rooms that are used only occasionally, such as the bathroom and toilet, is switched on and off depending on whether it is used. This saves energy and makes the light switch redundant.
