The idea behind

ECE Saarparkcenter car park, Neunkirchen

ECE is the European market leader in the shopping centre sector and operates and manages more than 200 shopping centres across Europe, including the associated parking facilities. The modernisation of the lighting on the West car park deck / Level 1 of the SAARPARK-Center Neunkirchen in spring 2023 serves as a pilot project aimed at reducing energy consumption and operating costs in this area. At the same time, a future-proof alternative was needed for the recently banned T5 lamps. By replacing the existing lighting with STEINEL’s RS PRO 5100 SC Connected Lighting solution, the annual energy costs for the West car park deck at the SAARPARK-Center in Neunkirchen can be reduced from €13,700 to €1,800. The connected, intelligent lighting solution replaces the previous 15-hour continuous lighting regime without compromising comfort or safety, as the lighting is controlled according to actual demand. This reduces energy consumption by 86% compared with the previous lighting system.

Potential savings

Compared with conventional T5 lighting, the RS PRO 5100 SC offers significantly lower energy consumption. When combined with demand-based lighting control, this helps to prevent lights from being left on unnecessarily and enables further energy savings. The actual potential for savings depends on the specific usage and initial situation.

Particularly in view of the ban on T5 light sources coming into force in September 2023, everyone should be considering the issue of retrofitting.
