The idea behind

Wöhrl underground car park, Nuremberg

The Wöhrl department store in Nuremberg welcomes numerous visitors from Monday to Saturday. As part of the renovation of the retail areas, the associated underground car park was also modernised. Instead of dim lighting operating around the clock, STEINEL’s Connected Lighting system now provides demand-based lighting in corridors, stairwells and the underground car park. With Connected Lighting, all luminaires are interconnected via Bluetooth Mesh. This allows the different areas to gradually increase in brightness, ensuring that visitors always enter a sufficiently illuminated area. In this way, the new lighting system combines demand-based lighting control with a high level of comfort.

Connected Lighting

With Connected Lighting, sensor-controlled LED lights can be switched on only when needed, thanks to local light and presence sensors and Bluetooth connectivity. This reduces energy consumption and electricity costs compared with leaving the lights on continuously when no one is present.

Potential savings

Compared with conventional T5 lighting, the RS PRO 5100 SC offers significantly lower energy consumption. When combined with demand-based lighting control, this helps to prevent lights from being left on unnecessarily and enables further energy savings. The actual potential for savings depends on the specific usage and initial situation.

Particularly in view of the ban on T5 light sources coming into force in September 2023, everyone should be considering the issue of retrofitting.
