Building intelligence for the hotel industry

Park Inn by Radisson in Wismar. The future of the hotel industry has arrived.

The idea behind it

Meeting the travel boom with more services for guests and more energy efficiency for the environment.

Digitisation and rising customer expectations are confronting hoteliers and hotel operators with new challenges. Digital information plays a central role here, whether a guest is in their room or not.

True Presence® from STEINEL provides this data. Evaluated accordingly, recurring processes in the daily routine of the Radisson Park Inn Hotel can be simplified. This means that service personnel can be deployed more efficiently and in a more targeted manner, optimising operations. At the same time, the unequivocal presence or absence of guests in their rooms offers the opportunity to improve energy efficiency and increase guest comfort.

Development partnerships. A new way of thinking and working.

What began with an international call for tenders has since developed into an intensive partnership between equals, almost between friends. In the next few years, MV Werften GmbH will be equipping several cruise ships with intelligent sensor systems in collaboration with STEINEL. The aim here is to maximise efficiency in the use of the very limited energy resources on board. The Park Inn by Radisson hotel, which belongs to MV Werften GmbH, was a first step in this direction.

It's nice when things just work as they should, without much effort. Just like the IR 180 UP easy, which can be used to automate light in corridors, stairwells or toilets in no time at all.

IR Quattro MICRO

The IR Quattro MICRO presence detector is so small and flat that it can be installed almost anywhere, even in damp rooms.

True Presence®

The presence detector recognises whether a guest is in the room or not by detecting the respiratory movements of a person.

Potential savings with added comfort

The hotel's energy management system uses the information from the
True Presence® that a guest has left their room. Imperceptibly for the hotel guest, the room temperature in the empty room is changed by 2°C. This can achieve an energy saving of 12%.

0

The True Presence registers when there is no longer anyone in the room.

2°

After about 20 minutes, the room temperature is changed by 2°C.

12%

This can save up to 12% of energy without the guest noticing.

Housekeeping - controlled by app

In future, the Park Inn by Radisson Wismar hotel also plans to use the information on whether a hotel guest is in their room or not to optimise operational processes. With the help of the Building Intelligence solution from STEINEL, room service will be able to clean specific available rooms without disturbing the guest. At the same time, the reception receives feedback on which rooms have already been cleaned and can be assigned to new guests. This helps to improve the utilisation of the hotel's capacity by enabling better planning and deployment of service staff.

Bathroom & toilet

With the help of intelligent sensors, the light in rooms that are used only occasionally, such as the bathroom and toilet, is switched on and off depending on whether it is used. This saves energy and makes the light switch redundant.
