23 Marina is an 88-storey, 392.8 m high residential skyscraper in Dubai. STEINEL products have been installed in all lifts, corridors and lobbies, in all service lobbies and in all parking areas. The lighting control system for all communal areas is controlled by Steinel motion sensors integrated into an ABB BMS. All motion sensors are connected to the BMS and everything is intelligently controlled according to a schedule and external light levels.

The right choice
STEINEL has the right sensor for every application. Before making a selection, however, it is necessary to analyse exactly which detection tasks the sensor must perform and what the scenario at the place of use looks like. The special architecture of 23 Marina calls for sensors that deliver precise results even when installed at great heights and are able to monitor extensive areas. To meet these requirements, the decision was made in favour of the IS 3360 infrared ceiling sensor and the IS 345 from STEINEL as a dedicated motion detector for corridors and passageways.
Lighting in terms of heat
Both of the selected sensors use passive infrared technology to detect room occupancy. They detect the heat radiated by the human body and then activate the light. PIR sensors work well when they have a high resolution and the sensor lens is tailored to the specific room situation. This is exactly the case with STEINEL sensors.
Targeted collection in the corridor
Designed as a special IR corridor sensor, the detection field of the IS 345 is tailored to the particular architecture of corridors and passageways. It has an impressive range of 20 metres in length.

The IS 3360 is a 360-degree motion detector that monitors large areas in rooms up to 4 metres high for every step. It has an exceptionally long range of vision and detects every movement within a distance of 20 metres around the sensor. This means that a single sensor can monitor an area of up to 1000 square metres.
